Our COVID-19 Response

I’m going to say it: Cartel Coffee Lab is partially open for dine-in. We’ve been pick-up only from the very beginning; we wanted to be sure we weren’t exposing our team members to unnecessary risk. We’re now more than half way through the year, which has given us a lot of information to look back on. Ultimately, we used a combination of state reported data, guidelines from CDC, FDA, and OSHA, monitoring hot spots around the areas we operate, and feedback from our Store Leads to guide our decision making.
While we’re confident in the plans and protections we’ve implemented, the reality is that no business can make a 100% guarantee. We ask that everyone make decisions based on their own unique circumstances.
Which Locations Are Open for Dine-In?
Currently, all locations except for ARRIVE Palm Springs and ARRIVE Austin are offering modified dine-in. For hours, visit our locations page.
Service Changes & House Rules
We ask that guests respect our house rules to make sure we provide an environment that’s safe for both other guests and our team members.
- Dine-in seating will be limited to 25% of capacity, 15% at select locations
- We ask that guests mark their table as closed with provided signage after they’ve finished dining. This gives our team members an opportunity to sanitize the area before the next guest.
- Stay home if you’re not feeling well or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Please cover your face and nose with a mask whenever you are not actively eating/drinking.
- Be patient and tip your barista. They are working extra hard to ensure you have a clean and comfortable environment to come to.

How Are You Protecting Guests & Employees?
The health and safety of our team members and guests has been one of our top priorities. We’re taking the following steps to make sure our environments are safe and clean:
Social Distancing – Groups are limited to parties of no more than 4 guests. All available tables are 6 feet away from each other and any pick up or order areas. Team members are reminded to keep at least a 6 feet distance to anyone who is not in their immediate household. Clear sneeze guards have been installed to provide additional barriers at frequent customer interaction points.
Indoor Seating – Dine-in seating will be limited to 25% of the state Fire Marshal max capacity during the initial re-opening phase. Guests are asked to clear their own tables and mark them closed with provided signage upon departure so that team members can sanitize the area.
Outdoor Seating – All cafe locations will begin offering patio or outdoor seating, where there’s the maximum amount of air flow. Guests are asked to clear their own tables.
Face Coverings – All dine-in guests are required to wear masks or face coverings if not actively eating or drinking. Team members are required to wear masks or other face coverings at all times while in our cafes. Disposable face coverings are provided for guests.
Sanitization – We’ve developed a rigorous sanitization schedule for our cafe environments that includes: (1) tables, iPads, and seating after each customer; (2) door knobs, handles, iPads, chip readers, retail shelves, merchandise, and refrigerated displays every 30 minutes; (3) countertops, faucets, sinks, soap dispensers, and toilets every 60 minutes; and (4) light switches, espresso machines, espresso grinders, syrup dispensers, and pastry tongs after every shift.
Hand Washing – Team members have been trained to wash their hands every 30 minutes (for at least 20 seconds) in addition to existing safe food handling practices. Hand sanitizer is also provided throughout the building for both team members and guests.
Screening – Team members are required to perform checks prior to every shift to verify that they’re not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
Sick Leave – Team members are instructed to stay home if they’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or if they’ve been in contact with anyone with COVID-19. Sick leave will be provided in accordance with the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
Returning to Work – Previously symptomatic team members are required to complete their 2 week quarantine (or longer if prescribed) and self-monitoring before returning to work.
