Humans of Cartel

Daniel is the kind of person that places a lot of value on the people and places he surrounds himself with. He notices everything around him, from people watching, to his meticulous work with photography. Daniel is one of our brand new #HumansOfCartel in #EastAustin. He also has a three-legged dog named Lucy, who we welcome in as one of the many loved #DogsOfCartel.

What brought you to Cartel?

A friend of mine, Lisette, gave great feedback on their time with Cartel and the community that it offers.

What's your perspective on Cartel, your community, and the industry as a whole?

I feel Iike no matter where you go, you find a lack of something. I believe that coffee service isn’t 50% coffee and 50% service but 100% of both without anything lacking.

The coffee industry's sometimes subtle or not-so-subtle influences on someone’s day is why I love it. The idea that people have been hurt, fallen in love over a cup of coffee, or even just a good interaction with the person serving them a simple drink and really make or break that person's day.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

The ability to foster the skills of our baristas and to share the passion for coffee that I have.

What are your aspirations for the future?

They change all the time.

What is your favorite beverage?

Sparkling water honestly, but for coffee, it would be straight-up espresso.

Stop by our brand new East Austin location at the ARRIVE Hotel to meet Daniel and the whole team.
