Humans of Cartel: Ozzie Ortiz

Humans of Cartel: Ozzie Ortiz

Ty Dahlstrom

This is Ozzie—he's new here at Cartel and he's simply a phenomenal human. He and his wife started a non-profit a few years back, and while that's still very much a part of his life, he's now bringing all of those skills and his heart for service into Cartel as the new manager of our Sky Harbor location.

What brought you to Cartel?

The chance to work for/with a growing company that has a clear vision and culture.

What's your perspective on Cartel, your community, and the industry as a whole?

Wow. I’ll try to keep real short... I love the coffee world. That is why I have spent the last 12 years in this industry (to varying degrees). And I plan on spending the rest of my life in this industry. And the only way that is possible is through appreciating the many sectors of the coffee chain. That means respecting the labor & laborers that produce this product and striving to keep that level of respect throughout the entire process. I appreciate that Cartel Coffee Lab recognizes and appreciates this process...”from seed to cup.”

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Simple. The people.

What are your aspirations for the future?

Go wherever God may lead me. I’m enjoying the journey and eventually I will get to where I’m supposed to be. But in the meantime I’d like to experience every aspect of the coffee industry.

What is your favorite beverage?

Cappuccino. Balance and Beauty.

Next time you fly through Sky Harbor, say hello and grab a cappuccino from Ozzie and the rest of the team.
