SUMMARY

As the Production Manager and Green Buyer at Cartel Roasting Co. you will be responsible for leading and managing the roastery and cold brew teams. The production manager will create the green coffee strategy and maintain green coffee inventory in addition to conducting weekly coffee cuppings to determine single origin offerings. They will also be responsible for creating and maintaining the taste profiles of our permanent blend offerings working closely with our importers. This position will be integral in setting QC standards of all coffee products and create and R&D new products. Additionally, the Production Manager will ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of all orders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, manage, retain and hold the production team accountable
  • Own all production operations & processes
  • Own quality control & compliance within production
  • Curate coffee offerings, maintain stock and coordinate with green coffee importers
  • Craft & develop roast profiles along with the roasting team
  • Achieve operational goals & metrics
  • Own R&D of new products and initiatives
  • Communicate the values, priorities, and goals of the company to the production team
  • Facilitate training and provide continuing education and professional development.
  • Reward & recognize positive behaviors and outcomes; seek & offer opportunities for high-performing employees to grow  
  • Ensure quality and consistency among all products by ensuring and/or enabling the practice of checks & balances and improving upon or revising the processes as necessary
  • Remain in tune with customer satisfaction feedback and ensure that complaints are resolved in a timely and service-oriented manner
  • Promote and facilitate a discrimination & harassment-free workplace, as well as safe and up-to-standard facility conditions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory and expense reporting 
  • Lead weekly Production Team meeting
  • Participate in company meetings as needed
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, and passion for the Cartel brand and coffee community
  • Undergraduate Degree required, with a degree in Hospitality, Supply Chain Management or Business Management preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in customer service, experience in specialty coffee preferred
  • 3+ years of demonstrated practical leadership experience or green buying
  • Strong knowledge of the coffee industry and coffee roasting techniques 
  • Demonstrate decisiveness and an action-oriented spirit, and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve the goals of the company and the team
  • A natural ability to collaborate well with others across the organization
  • Strong analytical skills to measure the performance of new initiatives and evaluate key performance indicators 
  • Demonstrate a strong drive for results with the ability to strategically and effectively manage budgets and meet revenue goals established by the company
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • The ability to predict and identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Moderate computer and software skills, including Google Workspace, Excel, Cropster and Asana
