Summary

The Store Lead will lead, manage and hold accountable members of their assigned retail team in delivering the Cartel experience, education standards execution, community engagement, driving store measurables, and budget management. The Store Lead demonstrates company culture and ensures that all decisions and activities align with the organization’s core values. Success will be measured by the growth of retail perception and awareness, deepened employee and customer engagement, and achievement of growth and revenue goals.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules, directs and manages store employees. 
  • Conducts quarterly conversations, annual conversations, and three step coaching.
  • Performs training with new hires and continued education with staff.
  • Ensures products and guest experiences align with Cartel standards.
  • Works as a barista and maintains an active presence behind the coffee bar. 
  • Completes barista duties of taking customer orders, making the order and serving customers.
  • Reconciles cash, completes deposits and bank runs, ensures adequate change in the store at all times. Adheres to and ensures ethical and integrity standards for cash in the store.
  • Timely and accurately monitors sales, balancing, labor and cost of goods sold.
  • Monitors and analyzes the store budget. Reviews sales budget and address performance and profitability as needed.
  • Orders coffee, dry goods, and other products. Maintains inventory and manages vendor relations.
  • Attends and conducts employee meetings and events as required.
  • Completes payroll, double checks and adjusts hours; reports hours and tips. Completes and submits other reports and records as required.
  • Develops and implements store and company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in community outreach and involvement activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Two years’ work experience as a barista and one year previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Use of personal vehicle and MCESD Food Manager certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic Google Workspace or Microsoft applications skills
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, evaluation of customer satisfaction and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and identify and recommend possible solutions.
