Cartel Roasting Co. is Proud to Announce Jesse Pangburn as New CEO

Nearly nineteen years ago, we started this company with a simple idea and a belief that coffee could bring people together. What began as a small dream has grown into a community, an incredible team, and a brand rooted in connection, craft, and purpose. We couldn’t have done this ourselves. Talented people have stepped into leadership, taken ownership, and grown alongside the company.

Today, we’re excited to share the next phase of that journey.

Jesse, our current COO, will be stepping into the role of CEO and leading Cartel into its next chapter. As founders, we’ll shift our focus toward curating Cartel’s long-term vision, culture, and future direction.

For those who know us well, this will feel less like a change and more like a natural next step. Since Jesse started as a barista over the past 14 years, Jesse has helped shape the company, develop leaders, and build the organization we are today. As Cartel continues to grow, this transition allows each of us to focus where we can have the greatest impact.

As CEO, Jesse will be responsible for setting the company’s strategic direction, making key business decisions, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of growing our community owned business. As founders, we’ll continue to champion Cartel’s long-term vision, culture, and purpose, helping ensure the company remains true to the values that inspired us to start it nearly two decades ago.

We’ve always believed that great companies are built from within. This transition is a reflection of that belief—a continuation of the leadership we’ve intentionally developed over many years and a commitment to building a company that will thrive well beyond any one individual.

This isn’t a change in who we are. It’s the natural evolution of what we’ve been building together all along, and we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead.
