Description
El Embrujo (“The Spell”) is a coffee estate in Anserma founded in 1969 by Dr. Octavio Rodriguez, a physician who returned to his lifelong passion for coffee farming after finishing medical school. A featured lot from La Palmera utilizes the Colombia varietal, with anaerobic and aerobic fermentations and a 140-hour mechanical drying process to strengthen complexity. Ignacio (Octavio’s son) underlines sustainability through native shade trees, composting coffee pulp, and reusing water to irrigate crops and avert pollution. Socially, Embrujo supports workers with high wages, housing, meals, and year-round employment, while operating in Caldas – part of Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape and a center of coffee research and export.
