Colombia Huila Especial is the washed portion of Blend Forty-Eight, a Cartel Roasting Co. classic, and we’re incredibly excited to share! Our green coffee purveyor, Mercanta, has been working in the Huila region for ~25 years, commercializing specialty coffee and establishing the ‘Club San Augustin’ to identify top tier producers through an annual cupping competition. Geographically, the Huila region is excellent for coffee growth, but the key to quality product are the growers themselves. In fact, 80% of producers from the region farm coffee on less than 3 hectares of land, leading to more thorough management techniques and stellar final product. Our team tasted notes of butterscotch, almond, and prune from this coffee.
