SUMMARY

The Production Roaster and Brewer is responsible for fulfilling daily retail, wholesale, and online whole bean orders, facilitating large batch cold brew production, and maintaining roastery equipment and a clean production space. This role is also responsible for ensuring Cartel quality standards are met by maintaining an efficient, clean, and timely flow while ensuring we are meeting our QC standards. They must know, practice, and ensure that company policies, procedures, applicable state and federal laws are followed at all times. The role will interact with other departments, wholesale and retail customers, and vendors. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and follows production orders, roast log, and pick lists
• Operates equipment to bag and label roasted coffee
• Packages orders accurately for wholesale and retail customers, and mail orders
• Safely operates the roaster and follows roast profiles
• Has knowledge of Cartel’s coffee program and brews coffee to standard
• Communicates effectively with production team via Slack and email
• Maintains cold brew facility, produces large-scale batches, and maintains inventory
• Performs maintenance on brewing, kegging, and canning equipment
• Follows inventory schedule and FIFO procedures
• Conducts quality control through sensory evaluation and device measurement
• Participates in cuppings & tastings for palate development
• Assists with receiving materials and operates forklift as needed
• Completes training as required
• Performs other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• 1+ years of retail, food service, or customer service experience
• Arizona Food Handlers Certification
• 1-2 years of coffee experience preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Basic knowledge of math and Google/Microsoft applications 
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting and handling materials up to 100 pounds
• Knowledge of customer service and sales principles and methods
• Ability to listen, understand, and negotiate with others
