    Kenya Ibonia Estate AB

Located approximately 3km from Kiambu town and 13 km north of Nairobi, Ibonia Estate sits at an altitude of 1,725 meters above sea level. The land features deep, well-drained red volcanic soils, specifically Nitisols and Andosols, which are highly fertile and provide ideal conditions for coffee production. The climate is generally cool, with particularly cold and wet periods occurring between May and July. These conditions slow cherry development and extend the maturation period, ultimately enhancing cup quality. Processing begins with handpicked ripe red cherries, which are pulped on the day of harvest. The coffee undergoes full fermentation and washing before being thoroughly dried and stored in well-ventilated bins. To manage environmental impact, the estate operates an efficient water recirculation system consisting of 16 lagoons in series, designed to purify wastewater from the pulping process. The natural forest ecosystem on the estate remains well-preserved, supporting a rich diversity of flora and fauna across both terrestrial and aquatic habitats. Farmers are encouraged to protect indigenous species, and the region is home to wildlife such as snakes, deer, hares, weaverbirds, owls, and hawks. Native plant species, including fig, cordia, croton, and neem trees, thrive throughout the property.

    Blend Forty Eight

Blend Forty-Eight was the very first blend crafted by Cartel – and it’s still one of our all-time favorites. Designed to be smooth, balanced, and endlessly approachable, this medium-light roast quickly became a go-to for coffee lovers of all kinds. Over time, we discovered its real magic: it makes a beautifully rounded espresso, especially when paired with milk.
This 3:1 blend combines three parts washed coffee with one part natural, offering a nuanced flavor profile that’s both vibrant and comforting. Because we believe in working with the freshest, most in-season green coffees, the components of Blend Forty-Eight shift slightly throughout the year – but the spirit of the blend stays the same: easygoing, reliable, and delicious in every brew.

    Desert City Dark

We took our time to develop a blend that mitigates acidity via the beans sourced, which allows us to roast this one slightly lighter than comparable dark roast coffees. The end result is a rich, bold, full-bodied cup that does not present the smoky, burnt, ashy, or carbonic notes that many dark roast coffees carry. This is the perfect cup for acidity-averse folks: it won’t taste bitter, but it also won’t be overly bright or intense! Finally, a coffee you can bring home to mom and dad – and all actually enjoy together.

    Colombia Finca Chambakú

Elmer, head of the Restrepo family and father of three, is a visionary coffee entrepreneur with more than 45 years in the coffee world. At the age of 16 he found in coffee a way to make an impact on his social, economic and environmental surroundings. He is recognized as a reference in the Colombian coffee industry for his dedication and leadership. That passion led him to develop the Finca Chambaku project with his youngest son Juan Felipe, a passionate bean hunter and expert in fermentations. Juan Felipe found in the science and innovation of the processing that he can continue the family legacy of production and care for the environment instilled by his father. Today the two of them use their experience and the innovation of the industry to design different protocols for processing.
