Meet Nikki Byjoe! She’s a barista at our Coronado location, and an absolutely delightful person. If you’ve ever had the chance to speak with her, you know just how kind she is! Take a moment to learn more about this human below.

What brought you to Cartel?

I totally remember my first cup of brew at Cartel. It was sooo good. Not to mention, every time I came into a Cartel, everyone just seemed so upbeat! I knew this was the perfect place to work and I’ve been here since the near the beginning of 2022.

What’s your perspective on Cartel, your community, and the industry as a whole?

A coffee shop company that pays their coffee producers well , pays attention to their employees needs and wants, and that truly care about customer experience? That’s Cartel for you! Cartel really sets the bar for the speciality coffee industry.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

There are so many things, I love about this job from the free coffee a day to socializing with customers and my amazing coworkers, but my favorite thing is that Cartel sets up a great atmosphere to work, learn, and grow as a barista and human.

What are your aspirations for the future?

Personally, I’d love to do more with jewelry and work on growing creatively (and of course with a cup of Cartel coffee in hand).

What is your favorite beverage?

Call me “basic”, but a dirty chai with oat milk slaps!

Say hey to Nikki next time you see her at Coronado!
